The guidelines of the Swiss Alpine Museum
The Swiss Alpine Museum encourages the debate about the cultural heritage of the mountains as
well as their significance for man. This promotes and develops the mutual understand-
ing between the inhabitants of the lowland and the mountain regions.
The SAM sees itself as a vital platform which makes the relationship between man and mountain conceivable and helpful for social development. It connects the mountain world of today with the historico-cultural background and the chances for development. In doing so the SAM is a stimulating and up-to-date site for cultural education, formation of opinion and cultural enjoyment. The aspect of enjoyment is part of the educational task, which means that all activities are both entertaining and enjoyable.
The SAM ist the only public cultural institution focusing on the significance and development of the Swiss mountains
