Since its foundation in 1905 the Swiss Alpine Museum has been collecting objects and art connected with the world of mountains. Today it houses a diverse and large collection of objects. Above all the musem has specialised in three fields which are continually and systematically extended:

photography (mountain regions with a focus on Switzerland)
cartography (reliefs, panoramas, maps for tourists)
alpinism

We also attach great importance to additional fields of our collection (tourist advertisements, paintings, land survey, folklore, documentation) which are available for exhibitions, publications, research etc.
